The Matt Christie Institute of Australia in partnership with 4Good have teamed up to raise funds for the studio production of a Song4MS “Shine”.

A Song4MS is the first song in the Songs4Good project (by Marie Wilson - Australian Singer Songwriter) where the lyrics have been crowd sourced by those living with or touched by Multiple Sclerosis. The writing of the song began in December 2015 and was finished approximately 6 months later.

Inspired by two very close friends (twins), diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, the Song4MS developed into a journey with people from the global MS community getting involved.

Songs4Good is a project by 4 Good of which Marie Wilson is co-founder.

The CEO Mr Matt Christie from the Matt Christie Institute of Australia said “MCIOA is very excited to be a part of the funding process to support such a good cause”. The song touched Matt when he saw a performance of it in Melbourne when Marie Wilson was on tour in late 2016.

Song4MS Ready to Record

Twice ARIA nominated singer songwriter Marie Wilson is proud to announce the completion of her crowd-sourced song ‘Shine – The Song4MS’.

Over the past 12 months, Wilson has been writing the Song4MS where the lyrics were crowd-sourced by those living with or touched by Multiple Sclerosis.

The song, inspired by her two close friends (and twins) who are living with MS, has attracted much interest from the MS community worldwide, mostly because they are the ones writing the lyrics to the song.

“Songwriting saved my life,” said Marie, an award winning songwriter, “and I wanted to give my two friends a gift that was from the heart to show my love and support.”

And as a huge help in raising the funds to record the Song4MS, The Matt Christie Institute of Australia has just announced that they will be donating their first term admissions fee for 2017 to the project.

After seeing a live performance of the Song4MS by Wilson at a recent show in Melbourne, Matt Christie himself was inspired to get involved.

“I was blown away by Matt’s generosity to help me raise the funds to get the song recorded,” says the singer songwriter.

“It means that we can come up with a recording of the song that does justice to the heart and soul of those who have supported the project and shared their stories.”

Through a series of video updates since the start of 2016, Wilson has invited those living with or touched by Multiple Sclerosis to contribute their words, thoughts or feelings about their own experience with MS.

“Music has such a powerful impact on our lives, and by inviting fans to participate in the creation of the lyrics, means we can create a song that’s really meaningful,” Wilson claims.

Now, with the song complete, Wilson is in the process of recording the song with her long time producer Joe Hardy (ZZTop, Tom Cochrane, Steve Earle) after which it will be available for download.

“Music has the ability to connect like nothing else and if it helps one person living with MS to have a better day, then it’s a success.”

And for those who’d like to get up close and personal, keep your eyes out for the opportunity to be included in the video clip for the song.
